To Have It All

Rate this book
Rock bottom.

Liam had set up shop there.

After an accident left him injured and unable to work, it wasn’t long before he ended up on the street with his dreams in the gutter.

This was it.

This was his life.

Until the day he met Max Porter—a man who appeared to have it all. They didn’t meet so much as made eye contact as Max sneered at Liam, the bum occupying precious space on the sullied New York City street.

When Max stepped into oncoming traffic, a lesser man might’ve let him. But Liam risked his life to save Max only to be left to die without a second thought.

When Liam woke up days later, he wasn’t himself…at least he wasn’t in his body.

He was in Max’s.

And with Liam’s body on life support, there was only one logical conclusion: Max was trapped in Liam’s comatose body.

Somehow the twisted hands of fate had given Liam a second chance; a chance to have it all. But with all the perks of Max’s life also came his problems. Finding balance in his new identity was challenged more so once Liam fell for Waverly, Max’s beautiful ex.

Could Liam live out his life as another man or would he pull the plug and let fate decide?

Would he lose his chance at true love?

Would he lose the chance to have it all?

”What I’d give to have it all.”

description

B.N. Toler gifts a miracle or two and our friend karma plays a part in this beautiful, unforgettable, story. Every page of this book was done perfectly. Each and every character was essential and unique. The writing held such hard hitting quotes and I may have even shed a tear or two.

"He saw a man that had everything - that had it all. His all. "Lucky man."

description

As a down on his luck homeless man named Liam switches bodies with a rich man named Maximus Greyson Porter III a.k.a. the “asshole with it all” this story is layered and exciting. Liam maybe in the body of a man who seems to have it all but he quickly finds out when Max’s ex-wife Waverly calls asking him to sign away his rights to their young daughter, Prim. So it seems Max may have it all but he has thrown it away with both hands.

description

The story is told mainly in Liam and Waverly’s povs as she figures dropping off young Prim will get Max to sign his rights over in a hurry. What she doesn’t expect is for Max to actually like taking care of Prim and show her compassion and empathy. She’s even thrown by her feelings of attraction to a man who stomped on her heart. Added to the mix is the fact that Max is in Liam’s body in the hospital where the doctor’s plan on pulling the plug if nothing changes in two weeks’ time.

description

Liam and Waverly’s fall in love was perfection and totally deemed book swoonworthy especially when he tells her his circumstances.

”Please. Please see me.”

description

”Max was a handsome man, but it wasn’t how he looked that stirred things in me. This was different. I felt him; I could feel his want in his stare. And there it was. I realized I was staring at Max, but it wasn’t Max starting back at me. It was Liam. I believed him.”

As the story progresses the urgency to see what happens sets in as to how the heck will the author end this book.

description

It’s an amazing ride that ends so cleverly with that one scene “teal dress” was a direct hit to my feels. Bravo B.N. Toler you took a body swamp story and just completely blew me away!

”Good deeds render good luck.”

description

To Have it All was my first BN Toler book, and now… I think I need to read them ALL! This book was truly fantastic, it had it all ;) It was heartbreaking, heartwarming, funny, sweet, and gave me all the feels! Once I started it, I read straight through the night to finish. It was one of those books I didn’t want to put down.
There is magic in this world beyond any explanation. It exists only because a scale steadies the universe, and it is the unknown that keeps the balance. The human race needs miracles; it needs the unthinkable to happen because without it, hope would not exist.

Liam is a great man with a good heart who is down on his luck. After an accident left him unable to do his job, he ended up at rock bottom, living on the streets. He had hope things would change for him, and he was making the best of his situation, but things were hard. Then he meets Max Porter. Max looks at him as though he’s dirt on his shoes. But then, something happens. Max walks right in front of a moving vehicle and Liam saves his life. Liam doesn’t remember anything after that, in fact, Liam thinks he’s a goner. Till he wakes up. In Max’s body.

Karma is such an essential part of this story. What goes around really does come around sometimes. I loved the choices Liam made when he was ‘Max’. I adored little Prim and Waverly. And Liam’s sister Helen was one of my favorite characters in the story. She made me laugh out loud so many times!

There is nothing better than a book that will make me laugh out loud, but also cry my eyes out. I bawled so many times reading this. I’m not sure if I was super emotional, or what, but this book really brought the feels. It made me anxious, kept my heart racing, and my emotions were all over the place. I didn’t know how the author would end this book, but I loved the way it ended. Honesty, I think she wrapped it up in a perfect way.

To Have it All is one of those books that more people need to read! I can’t believe how few people on Goodreads have read it *I’m looking at all of you*. It was my last book of 2017 and a perfect book to end the year with!

Genre: Contemporary Romance with Paranormal element
Type: Standalone
POV: First Person - Dual
Rating:

Liam was a good man thrown into a bad situation. Braving New York City as a homeless was not easy when everyone saw him as a garbage. One fateful day, he selflessly put himself in harm's way to save Max Potter, an arrogant wealthy man who seemed to have everything. When he woke up from the ordeal, he was no longer in his own body, but Max's instead.

Waverly Torres only wanted one thing from her ex - her freedom to move on. But with Max no longer himself, she started to see what could have been. Having a glimpse of that prove difficult for both her and Liam because nothing is ever certain when Karma came to play.

The moment I first saw this book, I knew I had to read it. I love books with moral dilemma and this book certainly put humanity front and center.

How was I supposed to do this? Was I supposed to give up all the people I loved and cared about? Just forget about them? How was I supposed to be Max Porter?

I love Liam the moment he was introduced. What he lacked in possession, he made it up with his heart. I like seeing how he struggled to live with his new "life" and how he made the most if it.

Pain isn’t traditionally beautiful, but somehow, it was on her.

In general, I do like Waverly, but there were instances I questioned her judgment considering what she had to endure in the past. But at the same time I can appreciate how she gave people chance.

The story was definitely interesting. I like how the author managed to portray the doubts and difficulties from both sides. However I wish (the real) Max was featured more. There were still unanswered questions about him and his part lacked closure - especially considering the main point of the story.

" When I take you to bed, when I’m deep inside of you, loving you, I want it to be me you see when you gaze up at me as you moan and tell me you love me. Me, Waverly . . . all of me. My heart, my soul, my body.”

To Have It All is a story of second chance and the opportunity to make it worthwhile. It would appeal to readers who love stories about life.

4 -awesome story, OK romance- Stars

Now THIS is a paranormal book that Jewelsy can actually understand! *raising the roof*
description

Reason being; it was a contemporary story with a simple to understand body-switching element and a dose of Karma as side character. Yep, no PNR world building, no different languages, no new information or jargon that my slow brain needs to learn... Just a super well written, heartfelt and engaging story that had me invested from start to end.

Sure, I still had some unanswered questions in the end. And yes, as much as I related with the h's scorn of her ex husband, I didn't agree with some of her questionable decisions and the way she approached most situations until the 70% mark. I ended up dropping a star because no matter how page-turning this book was for me; I wasn't really convinced of the MC's falling in love until I blinked and suddenly... undying love? Rest assured; after I got over the fact that I had no idea how their love suddenly developed in the space of a few weeks, everything else just fell into place and I stopped questioning their love for each other and just went with it. All the other petty questions I had in my head just became unimportant semantics.

For those nookie loving perverts like me; the sex scene didn't happen until 85% but unlike other slow burn books; I was too engrossed in this story to even realise or consider it a slow burn (who woulda thought that pervy Jewels could think like that, huh?). I also loved that as this story unfolds, you find that there are no true, 2D villains in this story.

I highly recommend this book to those who, like me; luurves this author's other works and are too contemporary to wrap their heads around hardcore PNR storylines, yet have always wanted to find a PNR book that they can understand and enjoy.

Told mainly in dual POV with Karma's POV at the very beginning and end of story. Standalone story with a well concluded HFN. 100% safe for all the safety lovers out there :)
I do wonder if Max (the ex husband) will get his redemption story later on, but I'm not holding my breath for that one because I'm kinda content with where the author left him.

“There is magic in this world beyond any explanation. It exists only because a scale steadies the universe, and it is the unknown that keeps the balance. The human race needs miracles; it needs the unthinkable to happen because without it, hope would not exist.”

This was one of those books I knew I wanted to read the moment I heard about it because it was a storyline I'd never read before! That doesn't come along every day and I just couldn't resist especially since it was written by one of my favorite authors! While the story does have a paranormal twist to it, I want to assure you that it's quite believable. Just enough of a twist to make the storyline possible, but it's subtle enough that I'm certain that even hardcore contemporary romance readers will accept it. The hero has a heart of gold and he falls in love with the single mom of a little girl when their lives collide in an entirely unexpected and unprecedented manner. While I'll admit that this story was much less emotional than I was expecting, I still really enjoyed reading something that was just so DIFFERENT!! So if you're in the mood for a book that'll deliver a story that isn't quite like anything else, try this!

I really felt for Liam. The poor guy woke up in another man's body disoriented, confused, and completely helpless in a situation for which there was literally no precent. I mean, who do you call? One moment he was alone in the world with nothing to his name, and the next he woke up in the body of an arrogant millionaire... What do you do?

“There was no witchcraft or alien abduction,” I told her.
“It just… happened.”

But for him, everything changed when he met Max's ex-wife. He naturally couldn't refuse when she asked to see him (thinking he was Max) but was stunning when she offered him a divorce so that he would never have to see her or the child that Max apparently wanted nothing to do with ever again. This naturally shifted his entire universe.

Unlike Max, Liam had a heart of gold and there was no way he was going to let a child go without a father. But what were the consequences? He couldn't tell them he wasn't Max. What if this switch didn't last? What if he (as Max) became a part of this child's life only to have them switch back to their real bodies and have Max destroy everything. It was a tricky situation complicated further by his growing attraction to Waverly and his bond with her daughter...

It's one thing to have your own problems to deal with, but it's an entirely separate thing to wake up one day and take on absolutely all of someone else's problems and deal with the consequences of their actions.

“Few people are given the chance to see life in a different way.”

Overall, I loved how different this story was. I applaud the author for taking such a daring plot line and making it work. However, I felt the story lacked the emotional intensity I know this author is capable of writing, but that would be my only complaint -- I just didn't have as strong a connection to the characters as I'd wished, but generally, I was so drawn to the uniqueness of the story that I'm very glad I read it. And also, I really loved the ending!

This book tackles homelessness, mental illness, parenthood, and romance, gives them a supernatural twist, and brings everything all together in a beautiful story of love and second chances. I mean, how can you resist the premise of a kind-hearted, homeless biker mechanic who wakes up in the body of an arrogant, self-centered millionaire only to fall in love with his ex-wife and daughter… If you're looking for something really different to read, try this book!

“Do you believe in miracles?”

Rating: 4 stars. Standalone Romance with Paranormal Twist.

“One choice sets into motion a series of events that reap other choices.”

Ok, so I don’t even know where to begin with this reviews. I seriously have mixed feelings with this one and I keep going back and forth with my rating on it. I’m a huge BN Toler fan, love her books. Where One Goes is definitely one of my all-time favorite books, I absolutely recommend it. Same with Desperately Seeking Epic. And so, that brings us to To Have It All, I definitely liked it a lot, it kept me hooked the entire time but I still felt like something was missing.

The story is very unique. Liam is a homeless man, given a raw deal by life, he’s living in the streets and trying to survive day by day. One day he sees a man about to be hit by a bus and he intervenes to save his life. As a result, Liam is left on a coma. Karma, yes karma, intervenes and switches Liam’s soul with that of the guy he saved, Max Porter. Max is gorgeous, wealthy and well educated, the opposite of Liam. However Max is cruel, callous and an overall horrible person. While on Max’s body, Liam meets Waverly, who is Max’s ex-wife. I don’t want to spoil the book or give too many details, but yes, he starts falling for her.

“It may not have been my body, but it was me; my heart, my soul, my love . . . me.”

The story is told from Liam and Waverly’s POVs, with special appearances by karma. So, this story is very unique, it’s also very clever, and I guarantee will have you hooked from beginning to end. One of the things I love about this author is that her stories are always super unique, she never writes the same book or formula over and over.

However, one of the things I absolutely love about her is how her books are always full of feels and sadly in this one I didn’t get the feels. I had a hard time connecting with the main characters, especially Waverly. And also had a hard time feeling the “love” between the leads, perhaps because everything happens so fast? I’m not sure, this is obviously just my opinion.  I did love Liam, I think he was definitely the heart and soul of the book and deserved all the happiness in the world. I also loved Helen. And the ending, loved that part.

“He saw a man that had everything—that had it all. His all. "Lucky man."”

As always, the writing is beautiful and flawless. I can’t wait to see what BN brings us next! So if you’re looking for a very unique and interesting story then this is definitely the book for you.

“Hate is love's nemesis, yet the two are so closely linked; almost hand and hand. You can only hate someone if you love them”

3.75 "Choose wisely" stars

Maximus Greyson Porter III - a rich man with a bad personality, brass, unpleasant, rude, conceited, mean...

Liam - a mechanic, a man with a bad luck that set course on the wheel of fortune to turn on him, he ends up jobless and eventually homeless, still not actually grasping the full amount of bad coming down on him...but he's a good man, a proud man with high moral values, he always have been...

Karma - "the bitch" yeah, she appears here too...

One fateful day, on the 24th of August...Liam will save Max's life, but Max will do the unthinkable, running from the scene of the accident leaving Liam to die...

and karma will do her thing...

not because she's an actual bitch but because, for the human's to be able to keep their "human" side need hope...
There is magic in this world beyond any explanation. It exists only because a scale steadies the universe, and it is the unknown that keeps the balance. The human race needs miracles; it needs the unthinkable to happen because without it, hope would not exist.

and sometimes people need a lesson or two to learn...and the best way they do that is to see what they actually had and lost, or what they could have had and cherish it more, even if it was as flickery as the thought itself.

with a snap of her fingers, Liam's conscience switches with Max's by changing bodies.

and suddenly, five days after the accident, Liam is in Max's body "living", "experiencing" Max's life, coping with the "unthinkable", trying to find the sense in it, Liam's scared yet determined to figure things out, and maybe try to make them better while finding his way back...but when he encounters Waverly and her little daughter, (Max's ex-wife and child, whom he won't acknowledge), suddenly the "unthinkable" becomes "desirable" as Liam can't help but fall in love with her, as well as he becomes attached to little girl...and all he wants is for Waverly, to see beyond the physical, beyond the body of the man she hates...cause all she sees is Max, and not the different persona in him, that is Liam...
"Please. Please see me."

the time is limited as Liam's body is failing after the accident and there's isn't much to do but to give it all of himself until the uncertain fate decides about the matter...of life and death
"I may only have one more day in this world, and I know I don't want to spend it with anyone but you."

First of all, I would like to emphasize that BN Toler is one of my very fave authors who also wrote one of my all times favorite book Where one goes and even though I will jump blindly into anything she writes, this time, it was a bit different experience for me.

I loved the idea. It was perfectly mysterious and intriguing and BN Toler always puts her readers through an inner turmoil of emotional rollercoaster, reminding us of those little life lessons that we tend to forget while taking them for granted.

BUT here, I missed it. There wasn't that much of an emotional span I was expecting.

I loved Liam. I loved Waverly. BUT I didn't "feel" them together. I LOVED them separately. I could understand Max, though I did not even like him, one tiny bit, I could see where he was coming from after I have learned the circumstances around him that influenced his remarkably shitty behavior.

And that was basically the main reason why I didn't relate more to the characters.

I also found a bit awkward and confusing the "presentation/description" of the "body switching" transition provided by the author and my own "visualisation" of the presented material. I felt like I didn't have enough time to actually grip the emotional connection between Liam and Waverly while she's still fighting the "image" of Max's physique in front of her. It wasn't "palpable" enough for me, no matter how much I immeresed myself into the story. I was just missing that "little gluing touch" that would make me fall in love with them together. And still in the end, I had no empathy for Max. In fact, I think he deserved what happened to him or as he would say, that he had lost.

But he couldn't have lost anything, cause he didn't have it in the first place.

Unfortunately, I can't say I loved it, I liked most of it, but basically, I was pretty much confused and just lingering there, right until the 80% of the book, when "everything" was cleared out and explained, but by then, it was too late for me to engage into the story with more feelings.

It's still recognizable BN TOLER's writing but the realization and interpretation of certain subjects...were, well, confusing at times and somehow "off".

First off, I just want to say if ever a cover fitted the story it's this one - perfect!

I went into this one blind and had no idea what to expect and wow, just wow! This one blew me away. There's a bit of the supernatural at play here and I freaking love where the author took the story. There were quite a few twists and turns that kept me guessing too.

Liam is my book boyfriend of 2017, totally and completely. I love that man so damn hard. He had everything stacked against him, fell beyond rock bottom and still had a heart with such a huge capacity for love, caring and compassion and add to this how swoonworthy he was and yeah - Book Boyfriend for sure. Throw in how bloody awesome he was with little Pim and yep, I swooned again.

Waverley - well she started off prickly, with every reason to do so mind you. and I still liked her! Get me ... I usually hate prickly heroines but not this time.

The author didn't rush their relationship, given that the time period was fairly short it was paced perfectly. I loved seeing them both fall for each other, seeing Waverley soften as Liam won her over.

I also didn't expect to be left wanting to hate a character so hard but couldn't.

I love being surprised by a book that grabs me from word one right to the very end. To Have It All did that and then some. I bloody loved it!

To Have It All by BN Toler
5 stars!!!

“If you’re a praying man…pray for a miracle.”

BN Toler delivers one unforgettable story with To Have It All. From the first to last page I was totally captivated, engrossed and immersed in Liam, Max and Waverly’s story. I don’t think I could do this book justice to be honest, sometimes an author manages to grab you heart and soul with their words and this was one of those instances, they don’t come around very often but when they do, you scream about them. READ THIS BOOK!!

“What I’d give to have it all.”

This was such a unique story, a story where miracles can and do happen. Where karma is real and works in mysterious ways, but all for the greater good. Each and every page was memorable in some way or another, every character had meaning and merit and the paranormal twist was delivered seamlessly and yet has you yearning that things like this could happen in reality.

“It’s funny how sometimes people with the least give the most.”

Sometimes people need a wakeup call, sometimes they are their own worst enemy. Sometimes, while people think you have it all…in fact you have nothing, well nothing that really means anything, nothing of substance, nothing that makes you want to wake up in the morning. Money isn’t the be all and end all, money definitely doesn’t maketh the man, what is inside does and when that has nothing to give…karma jumps in.

“It was not his life I wished to save, but rather his soul.”

Liam was a stunning character from start to finish with a heart the size of Texas. Yes, he was homeless, but he was a man that once had a great job, had his apartment and enjoyed life until an accident took it away. Unable to work, he lost his income, his apartment, had mounting medical bills and lost everything he owned. It could happen to anyone. Liam was a proud man, he was embarrassed at how his life had turned out and as such couldn’t go to his sister for help. He didn’t want to burden her with his problems, so he turned to the streets.

“The streets had stolen more than my hope, taking their pounds of flesh.”

Max had it all, millions in the bank, a fancy penthouse, made to measure suits, but personally, he had no-one. Anyone that meant something he had either lost or pushed away. He was a man that was confused about the person he was and the man that he wanted to be. He had been consumed by the trappings of wealth, of power, of status and grandiose, even though the man underneath secretly wanted more. He was a man that battled himself and it was a constant fight. He was a man that didn’t know what he wanted, until he lost it.

“Hate is love’s nemesis, yet the two are so closely linked; almost hand and hand. You can only hate someone if you love them.”

When Liam saves Max’s life by pushing him out of the way of an oncoming bus, little did he know that this one act of heroism would affect him for the rest of his life. Little did he know that he would have to live the life of another, with no rhyme or reason why, confused and unsettled until it became obvious that there was in fact a reason, it was life altering, decisions needed to be made, that had far reaching effects.

“I want you to know you made my last days on this earth better than any of the days before I met you.”

BN Toler, I take my proverbial hat off to you. I adored everything about this book. There was nothing I didn’t like or love. From Waverly, to Hellcat, to little Prim, to Pearl and every other character in between. This was an emotional and thought provoking read, a read that has you thinking about the what if’s and the endless possibilities. A book whereby sense tells you it is all so wrong, yet your emotions say it is oh so right. A book that grabs your heart strings from the get go and plucks a regular tune throughout, a tune that builds in crescendo until a string snaps and doesn’t start again until the restringing is done. A book that will stay with you for a long time, a book where I felt everything for all the main characters, a book whereby tears were shed and many more smiles were given.

“He saw a man that had everything—that had it all. His all. “Lucky man.””

This book was super clever, intelligently thought out and expertly written. A real gem of a read and one that will definitely be on my favourites list of the year and in fact of all time. Seriously, read this book!! Stunning, stunning, stunning.

This BOOK.. (deep breath) This book WOWED the heck out of me.  I love this one so hard and so bad that I will probably make a mess of this review.  I apologize in advance if my review won't give this awesomeness of a book justice.

The characters:

Liam - a down on his luck mechanic that became homeless.  He has a heart of gold with a good soul.  One day, He saved another man's life and ended up inhabiting another man's body when he woke up. I want a Liam of my own (don't tell hubby).  :)

Max - I wanted to call him an assface dick because of what he did BUT knowing the reason.  I would say Max is complicated.  Broken.  A deadbeat dad.

Waverly - A strong woman and a great Mom. She concocted a crazy plan to overwhelm Max (who she thought was Max) to sign all parental rights to Pim.  Lives are intertwined and the amazing story began.

You need to read this book to experience what I had.  It is unique.  It beautiful.  It is love as its finest.

Why not 5 stars??? Because there is no epilogue.  :(

The googled definition of beauty is, “a combination of qualities, such as shape, color, or form, that pleases the aesthetic senses, especially the sight”. Since mankind came into being, this definition has been the accepted truth and meaning of beauty. Physical beauty in the form of shape, color and form that pleases the eyes is what most people tend to associate beauty with. Though true in a limited perspective, I believe this does not cover the true meaning of what beauty really is.
A flaw can be found on any "beautiful" human being, but beauty is found when you look deeper.

Liam is living out on the streets as a result after an injury that left him incapable of continuing to work. Kind-hearted and caring even though life hadn't been very kind to him.

“Sometimes people didn’t need advice or kind words, they just needed someone to listen.''

Max Porter—a man who appeared to have it all, who was ugly in all the ways a man could be, except physically. They were polar opposites. And one day as Max stepped into oncoming traffic, Liam risked his life to save the selfish man only to be left to die without a second thought. Days later Liam wakes up in Max's body, while Max occupies Liam's comatose body.

This was my second book by B.N. Toler, the first one I read was Where One Goes. Which was about 2 years ago.
I really enjoyed it and it actually made me cry which rarely if ever happens. So yesterday I was recommending books to my sister who is new to reading and wanted an emotional read. And then I started wondering what other books B.N. Toler had written and so I decided to find out and decided to read this book after I saw a lot of positive reviews from some of my Goodreads friends.

This was such a beautiful book. Honestly just amazing, definitely something I'd re-read in the future. This book was so much more than a romance with a touch of paranormal, just like her other book B.N. Toler managed to blow me away.
This book really showed me that you shouldn't just treat people how you want to be treated but treat them how they want to be treated. How am I in love with every character that this author creates? How is able to just spin together these inspiring and unforgettable characters.

The only reason that I didn't give it a full 5 stars is that I would have liked to see things from Max POV too. Even if it had just been a few short chapters, I guess it would have been easier to sympathize with him, instead of spending most of the book only feeling disdain towards him. But like I said it was a great book and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Oh, and Timberley was the cutest little girl ever, and I really appreciated how accurate she was to kids that age since it always really annoys me how kids are often portrayed in books. Definitely, recommend!

3.5 - 4 ★'s

This is a spin on a paranormal event in which a down on luck man switches bodies with a seemingly successful, rich man.

Liam was an auto mechanic who had an accident and couldn't work. This lead to a downward spiral where he lost his apartment, his belongings and his money but not his pride. After spending three months on the street, things were pretty rough.

He's eating a hand out with his friend, Pearl, when they see Mr. Successful, aka Max. When Liam leaves, he's heading in Max's direction when he sees Max's reaction to him and Max then steps in the path of a bus. Liam quickly pushes him out of the way and gets hit. Max then steals Liam's backpack and runs off.

Liam wakes up in Max's body five days later...

And we find out how much more of a jerk Max is when his ex wife shows up with papers terminating his parental rights to a beautiful daughter, Pimberly, that he never wanted and in fact, ended up annulling their marriage over.

description

It was interesting seeing how Liam navigated Max's life all the while trying not to disrupt things too much. Also, trying to figure out what in the hell is going on and why. His body is currently on life support...what happens when they take him off? That's the million dollar question.

I loved seeing how Liam was with Waverly (Max's ex) and Pimberly and I really loved how they all connected. Liam's relationship with his sister, Helen, was very sweet and it was great how much she was there for him.

But...we all know what's coming and I couldn't read fast enough. It didn't exactly happen as I thought but I did like what did. There's a little twist with karma and it's not hard to put together who the players are.

I did like the little "push" that happened at the end. Now it would be great to have that story!

3,5 😮😮😮🌟s❗️❗️❗️

The key words that caught my immediate interest from the blurb were:
“When Liam woke up days later, he wasn’t himself... at least he wasn’t in his body. He was in Max’s.”
This kind of paranormal romance is one of my favourites!!!!

So, there was Max who was a very arrogant and rude character, didn’t want to do anything with his ex, Waverly, and their little daughter, and after an accident his soul was transferred to the body of his rescuer, Liam.
I could feel the anguish of Liam as well as his distress since he was trapped and living inside Max’s body and another person’s life.
The plot was very engaging and all secondary characters were great.
It was a unique story with a very distinctive concept and beautifully written.

Max’s character was not sufficiently developed and I was left with many unanswered questions involving him. Unfortunately I didn’t fully connect with the main characters, wasn’t emotionally blown away and didn’t feel enough the romantic aspects developed within the story.

So, the second I read the synopsis of To Have It All by BN Toler I knew I wanted to read it. This one sounded so different than the books I’d been reading lately.

Liam has literally hit rock bottom. After an injury has sidelined him from working, he ends up on the streets. When he tries to save Max from being killed, he finds himself being hurt. But instead of waking up in the hospital, he wakes up in Max’s body. From the outside it looks like Max has it all…but appearances can fool everyone.

While occupying Max’s body, Liam learns that money does not always bring happiness. This book is told in both Liam’s and Waverly’s POV with a few chapters from Karma. The first thing that Liam learns is that Max has a daughter and an ex-wife. His ex, Waverly, wants him to sign over his rights to their daughter. Waverly can see the difference in Max right away but she can’t really figure out what is is. Instead of signing his rights over, Liam starts to spend more time with Waverly and Prim. For the life of him, he can’t understand why Max would just cast them aside.

While Liam is in Max’s body, his own body is lying in a hospital in a coma. Liam connects with his sister Helen and convinces her he is who he says he is. Together they are on borrowed time as they don’t know what will happen to Liam when the plug is pulled. Will he die? Will he stay as Max? Will they both die?

This book was so unique and not many authors could’ve pulled off this storyline. Sure, I would consider this a romance but I just love the theme of this book and the lessons you can gleam from it. This is the first book I can remember in a long time that I was actually racing to read so I can find out how it ends…I was that on edge.

I highly recommend this one for many reasons. It’s a beautiful story that will make it to the top of your faves of 2017!

This story is something different than a contemporary romance. At times I loved the paranormal element, at others I didn't.....
The truth is I couldn't put the book down and that says something on it's own...

Max, even though not the Hero in the story, held my interest most. At the beginning I hated him with a vengeance but after learning more about him, I believe he deserves his own story.

This is my third book by this author and I like how Toler makes her stories different to other stories out there.

However, I must admit some of the paragraphs were a bit long and both characters rambled on quite a bit. Also their connection didn't feel very strong. It was a good story though and kept me intrigued until the end.

4.5 “Fate isn't always a bitch” Stars

Oh, well, this book took me completely by surprise.

First, let me say something about where this book fits genre-wise. Goodreads and Amazon label it as “paranormal”, and yeah, I can see that, but part of me is asking if this wouldn’t be best described as “magical realism”. I’m the first to confess I don’t know MR all that well, but, from what I’ve heard about this genre, this book might be it. So if you’re iffy about paranormal because of you’re not into supernatural creatures (totally not my case, because I LOVE them), don’t worry. To Have it All isn’t that kind of paranormal.

MR or PNR, this book was exactly what I needed. Unique, sweet, heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. Such a unique premise, unlike anything I’ve read in romance!

I believe the best way to start this book is the way I did: knowing just what the blurb told me and nothing else. So I’ll try my best to keep this review spoiler-free.

Instead of focusing on the plot, then, I’ll talk about the characters and how they made me feel so much I finished the book feeling dizzy.

I absolutely loved Liam, the bum who, after an accident, occupied the body of a rich man hated by almost everyone in his life. Liam was genuinely good. You know one of those people who, no matter how hard life got, didn’t let the circumstances turn him into someone he’d hate? In a world filled with scumbags, reading about a Liam is always heartwarming. It makes me think humanity isn’t lost, after all.

Liam’s goodness made watching him interact with people a pleasure. His relationship with all the major characters (aside from Max and Waverly’s brother) was just SO GOOD! You could feel the goodness inside him spreading and enveloping the people around him. His sister, Waverly, Prim…These three stood no chance against Liam’s love-hurricane. Neither did I.

Aside from the romance plot (expect slow burn, angst and beauty, so much beauty), the best part of the story for me was Liam’s relationship with Prim. I wish I could say more without spoilering the whole thing, but let me just say that they both made me smile, laugh and tear up countless times.

Another huge plus here was how the story also gave Max, the so-called villain, space to grow. I loved how Fate was actually focused on Max and not Liam, and how everything came full circle in the end.

That ending, by the way, was pure perfection.

I only had a tiny issue with the story when it came to Waverly and her brother, because of one thing she did toward the second half of the story. I thought it was a little inconsiderate of her to act the way she did, and it ended up making me like her a little less. That’d be okay, too, if I couldn’t see a way to keep the same storyline without making her look bad. There was an easy fix there and I don’t know why the author chose not to use it. But that was such a small detail in comparison to how original and beautiful this story truly is.

Again, I know this review isn’t giving you much to work with, but trust me when I say this is one of the most unique premises in romance books out there, and that the little spin on reality only makes it better. These characters and their journey have made me feel so much, I bet you’ll be touched, too. Go read it!

The prologue was wow. I was very intrigued.

“I am going to let you think about your choice a bit longer,” I whispered. “Perhaps watching someone else have what is yours, you will see it differently.”

Naturally, I can't help but think that this book also has Max's pov in it. I was actually looking forward to reading it. How else would I know how he feels without it? Sadly, that is what happened. I was only "told" that Max got to see everything while Liam was inhibiting his body. =(

I was enjoying it at first, until I finally realized that there was no way Max could redeem himself. I know he was a complete a**hole especially what he did to Waverly but knowing he still keeps a picture of them in his apartment must meant something. Karma says he's really wasn't like this so I want to know what happened to him that made him act like that. (Liam went to see Max's doctor but I can't remember any detailed reason as to why and how he became who he is. - If it was mentioned, then my fault, I must have dozed off reading that part.)

I know I should focused more about Liam and Waverly since they were the main characters in this story. They were both nice and sweet but unfortunately, I didn't feel any sparks.

Overall, it was an okay read.

To Have It All is the first book that I have read by B. N. Toler and I was very impressed. This is a sweet, heart-warming story about family, love and second chances.

Liam is homeless due to circumstances beyond his control. His life changes when he risks his life to save Max, a very wealthy man who appears to have it all. By a strange twist of fate, Liam wakes up in Max’s body and Liam’s body is on life support. Can Liam live out his life as another man?

At first I thought that the plot was very simplistic and characters somewhat flat, but as I read on and the story unfolded, I become involved and intrigued, and by the end of the book I was feeling very emotional and was totally hooked.

I loved Liam and his big heart, and can totally understand how Waverley would find him irresistable. I loved the support from Liam and Waverley's siblings, and Pimberley was absolutely adorable! Max seemed too heartless, though there was an explanation of sorts as to why he behaved the way that he did. I would love to read his side of the story (hint, hint!) It was also refreshing that the romance was less focused on appearances and more on the person.

An enjoyable, original story with a paranormal twist.

The blurb gives you a pretty clear idea of what to expect from this book. Liam risks his life to save Max and ends up waking up in his body. I love BN Toler's books and I knew she would deliver another great book with an original storyline. She didn't disappoint! I was hooked from the start and couldn't put it down. I fell in love with Liam pretty early on, it was obvious he was a great guy. Waverly was a great character and my heart broke when I found out what she went through, however it broke more when I read about Liam's life.

These two characters didn't know how to navigate around each other but I loved seeing their relationship develop. I especially loved the side characters Pearl and Helen, they really elevated this story to another level. At the end everything fit perfectly together, but there were a couple of emotional scenes where I couldn't contain my tears. I would love for a sequel focusing on another character. However, I don't expect that to happen so I am happy the author gave us a quick look into that person's life.

Damn. Damn. Daaaaaaamn. What a phenomenal story of second chances and a beautiful love that overcame the impossible. This was everything. I was swooning one minute and then crying the next. My emotions were all over the place, but I had to know what fate dealt these perfect souls. It was the best book to end the year with. I'm so happy. So Happy.
Thanks Jen, for recommending this to me...even though you had told me about it many times before. I'm glad I finally listened. A favorite must-read of this year for sure.
